Start a Nonprofit to Make a Difference
I enjoy working with nonprofits and the needs that nonprofit efforts serve, and helping others start a nonprofit. I have found through the last 15 years, helping a variety of people start a nonprofit, that most people have toyed with the idea. It is also very common that many abandon the thought once they learn the difficult steps and amount of money it costs to start one.
Several years ago I decided to make the process to starting a nonprofit easy for anyone, regardless of where they are in the world. I know that there are probably several that read The Living Human that have an interest to start a nonprofit but did not know about the resource I created to make it easy. I have included a video below that explains just how easy it can be to start a nonprofit and a link to get you to Simple Nonprofit.com where anyone can easily start a nonprofit.
Why Start a Nonprofit?
A nonprofit is essentially a business that instead of focusing on making a profit, is centered around helping a charitable need. As defined by the IRS, a charitable need is focused on charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fosters amateur sports competition, prevents cruelty to children or animals. These purposes encompass a lot of activities. Basically, if you want to help something without monetary gain it most likely fits within this definition.
I have found that the majority of humans want to rally around a cause to make the world a better place. When a group of people start a nonprofit, volunteer or donate to one, it is the first step in taking that action. When a charitable cause is focused on through a nonprofit, the donations and expenses can be tax-deductible. In simple terms, that means without taxes being taken out the nonprofit has more money to work with. For those donating funds, they can give the money and deduct the giving on their taxes.
Start a Nonprofit Easily
Many who start a nonprofit want to help others but wonder how they will have the extra time, or how they will support themselves while doing charitable activities. One of the most common misconceptions I hear is concerning the not-for-profit designation and the belief no one could make a living running one. A nonprofit operates very similar to any business and can pay salaries to its employees and pay expenses it incurs to accomplish its mission. So yes, those who run a nonprofit can employ themselves and in turn make a living helping the charitable cause in which they are devoted.
The process to starting a nonprofit can be simple and straight-forward using the resources at Simple Nonprofit.com. The cost is low and many times set-up can be complete in as little as four weeks.
